Nola’s foodstore is brought to you by two best friends.
With more than 35 years of hospitality experience between them, Jess and Malia have forged a reputation for deeply personal, highly professional customer service with an impeccable taste for produce. They have a focus on sustainability, building community and giving really good hugs.
Founding Brother Alec in 2011, the Thornbury cafe quickly became a Northside institution, feeling more like dropping in to your best friend’s place, with amazing specialty coffee and a menu that became local legend.
Nola’s Foodstore was their next evolution, bringing all the heart they’re known for, while transforming from dine-in to takeaway offerings, alongside premium produce and groceries. The shopfront closed in August 2021 due to the ongoing impacts of the pandemic leaving more space for their Catering offering.
Nola’s catering service provides bespoke high end grazing tables and special events.
Family, the love of hosting and food bringing people together is at the heart of Jess and Malia’s philosophy. Brother Alec was an homage to Malia’s brother, Alec - so it seems fitting that this new venture is named after Jess’ daughter, Nola, born in 2019.
It’s all part of a new way of thinking, celebrating the greatest source of pleasure; eating amazing food with the people we love.
